Overview
Vocational education or Vocational Education and Training (VET), also called Career and Technical Education (CTE), prepares learners for jobs that are based in manual or practical activities, traditionally non-academic and totally related to a specific trade, occupation or vocation, hence the term, in which the learner participates. It is sometimes referred to as technical education, as the learner directly develops expertise in a particular group of techniques or technology.
Vocational Education plays a significant and remedial role in balancing the socio-economic fabric of the country. Since the citizens of India are its most valuable resource. Therefore our billion-strong nation needs nourishment and care in the form of basic education to achieve a better quality of life. For this there is a need for holistic development of our citizens, which can be achieved by building a strong foundation in education. Pursuant to this mission, the Council of Human Resource Education Development was created on 5th February 2014 through the 425th amendment to the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961 which functions through

The Objectives of the Council of Human Resource Education Development will be to:
- Formulation of Vocational Education Policy under National Skills Qualification Framework and ensure its implementation in letter and spirit
- Planned development including expanding access to and improving quality of educational institutions across the country, including areas where education is not easily accessible
- Pay special attention to disadvantaged groups like the poor, women and minorities
- To provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships, loan subsidy etc. to the eligible students of the deprived sections of the society.
- To encourage employability Skills Cooperation in the field of vocational education, including working with Company, Industry, as well as College Universities, to increase Vocational educational opportunities in the country
- To offer on the job practical training to enhance employability of a person after Class 10th to enhance his / her employability
- To train the student, prepare a course curriculum devised under NSQF with the companies or as approved by National Skill Qualifications Committee (NSQC) Govt. of India
- Each students who registered with CHRED shall be provided Comprehensive training in the trade by deployment in the premises of an Institute , College, Hospital, Company, Industry or in field operations depending on the trade selected
- CHRED will MOU with various trainers and Employers, Company, Industry for the completion of training of CHRED Students
- To upload the students training data on the AICTE Govt. on India web portal in the available formats thereon.
- To comply with any additional norms/ conditions as notified by AICTE govt. of India form time to time.
- All students who complete the training program and reach the minimum threshold in the examination that may be prescribed shall be issued a training skill assessment certificate at the completion of Course training the Examination Center shall be notified by the CHRED

The Top AICTE Recognized Body Under NSQF level to develop Employability Skills
The Vocational Education & Training department is responsible for the development of Vocational Education and literacy in the Country to Develop Employability Skills by Industrial Training Institute.
These departments are working to provide employment training to the student at NSQF level,
The Department of Skill Enhancement Employability Cell aims at “Universalization of Vocational Education” and to create better employability among the youth. For this, various new schemes and initiatives are launched regularly and more recently these schemes have started getting in the form of increasing enrollment in the Training Institute.
On the other hand, the Vocational Education and training are engaged in the task of creating world class opportunities in the country’s Vocational education and research under National Skills Qualification Framework so that Indian students are not left behind on the international stage. For this purpose, the CHRES has launched several Apprentice Opportunities and signed Company MoUs to provide Indian students the benefits of global vote.
